Handy Hidden Tab Techniques

by Kendall Callas

The easy way to make tab settings in WordPerfect for DOS is not at all clear on the Format/Shift+F8, Line, Tab screen.

Here are a few useful but not-so-obvious keystrokes:

Ctrl+End clear all tab settings to the right of the cursor
Ctrl > nudge the tab setting the cursor is on to the right 1/10th inch
Ctrl < nudge the tab setting the cursor is on to the left 1/10th inch
Ctrl ^ move the cursor right to the next tab stop
Ctrl v move the cursor left to the previous tab stop
Home < move the cursor to the left edge of the screen
Home, Home < move the cursor to the very left edge of the ruler bar
End move the cursor to the very right edge of the ruler bar

(These keystrokes work in WordPerfect for DOS versions 5.1, 5.1+, and 6.0. In versions 4.2 and 5.0, only Ctrl+End, End, and Home work as described.
