Two Flavors of WordPerfect 9

The latest version of WordPerfect for Windows, WordPerfect 9, is now available as part of two different office suites. Both include voice recognition (dictation), presentation, database, spreadsheet, and web publishing applications and can easily exchange most documents with MS Office 97.

If you make the move up, make sure you also apply two WP9 updates (downloadable free from www.corel.com), Service Pack 1 and Service Pack 2, for valuable improvements.

Both versions are available with a bundle of software:

WordPerfect Office 2000

Upgrades start at $99 (more for dictation, Paradox, etc.).

Hardware requirements for WordPerfect Office 2000 include Windows 95, 98, or NT with 32 MB of RAM, a 486 CPU (at least 66 MHz), 280 MB of hard disk space, and a CD-ROM drive. For dictation you'll also need a sound card, a slightly faster CPU (at least 133 MHz), an additional 50 MB of hard disk space, and more RAM: 48 MB for Windows 95, 64 MB for Windows 98 or NT.

WordPerfect Law Office 2000

Upgrade for $249.

The legal-specific software integrated with this suite includes:

Hardware requirements for WordPerfect Law Office 2000 include Windows 95 with 32 MB of RAM or Windows 98 or NT with 64 MB of RAM, a Pentium CPU (at least 166 MHz), 320 MB of hard disk space, and a CD-ROM drive. For dictation you'll need a sound card, a slightly faster CPU (at least 200 MHz), an additional 60 MB of hard disk space, and if you use Windows 95 you'll need more RAM, at least 48 MB.
